About CPB
For a stretch of the 2000s, Crispin Porter Bogusky was the most talked-about agency in America — Ad Age named it Agency of the Decade. Out of Miami and Boulder, CPB rewrote what advertising could be with Burger King's "Subservient Chicken," the anti-tobacco "Truth" campaign, the US launch of Mini Cooper, and VW's "Unpimp My Auto." The throughline was treating media as something to hack, not just buy — ideas that behaved like the internet before the internet fully knew what it was.
The agency cooled after co-founder Alex Bogusky left in 2010, and the version operating today — pitching itself as "chronically online," social-first and data-driven — is a leaner reinvention of the name rather than the Miami juggernaut of old, now running across branding, experiential, social and performance media out of New York, LA and Houston. Whether this Crispin recaptures the old appetite for risk is the thing worth watching. The name still carries a standard most agencies never reach.
